Lakeshore brings a passionate staff to the Minnesota lacrosse community. Our goal is to give players, parents, and coaches access to quality, dedicated instructors. Our coaches have played at the highest levels of lacrosse, and they understand the importance of fundamentals, character and hard work. Lakeshore instructors can offer focused training methods in all aspects of the sport.
Program Director, Defensive Specialist
Joe is currently one of the most decorated and experienced defenseman in the sport of the lacrosse. He played his college years at the University of Maryland where he was an All-American, team captain and was named All-ACC player of the year in 2008. Joe currently plays for the MN Swarm (NLL) and the Denver Outlaws (MLL). He has won two back-to-back MLL championships. Joe also played for Team USA during the 2010 summer where he won a world championship.
Joe brings an unrivaled level of knowledge and experience to your players. He has a diverse coaching background that includes experience at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. He has a deep passion for the sport of lacrosse and it shows when he works with players and coaches. Joe can offer distinct defensive technique advice from an individual perspective all the way up to a full-field team dimension.
Joe is also the head coach at the University of Minnesota, the director of the Lakers Developmental Program and assistant coach at Eastview High School.
Defensive Specialist
Derek Michalski played high school lacrosse at the Academy of Holy Angels where he was a 2x captain, 1st Team All-conference selection, 1st Team All-State selection, and a 2006 US Lacrosse All-American. He was also a member of the 2005 Minnesota Elite team that went 31-1, winning the War for the South, Notre Dame, and Battle of the Hotbeds recruiting tournaments. Derek began his college career as a walk-on at Butler before transferring to Providence and later the University of St. Thomas where he was a back-to-back MCLA D2 National Champion and a 2x 1st Team All-American. Derek also received an MA from Durham University in England where he won the British University Championship Series.
Derek has found himself all over the Minnesota lacrosse community and has over a decade of local coaching experience, having worked as an assistant coach at Holy Angels, Breck, and now Edina. Derek is also the defensive coordinator for the Lakeshore Lakers Gold Developmental Team.
Defensive Specialist
Chris is a Mahtomedi, MN native and played high school lacrosse at Mahtomedi High School where he led the team as a captain and was named All-American his senior season. Chris went on to play at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (MCLA) and Stony Brook University (Div 1) before transfering to the University of Vermont (Div 1). Chris played a vital role in the establishment of Lakeshore Lacrosse, and is currently attending law school.
Midfield Specialist
Dan grew up in Plymouth, MN and was a three sport captain his senior year of high school. He played lacrosse for Armstrong High School and received All-State honors his senior season. Dan played his freshman season at Stony Brook University (Div 1), then transfered to C.W. Post (Div II) where he won a NCAA National Championship in 2009. Forsyth is now an assistant coach at C.W. Post where he won the 2010 NCAA National Championship.
Midfield Specialist
Giuseppe played his high school lacrosse career at Totino-Grace High School in Fridley, MN. During his senior season, Giuseppe captained the Eagles to the state finals and was named All-American. He was also a 2010 Mr. Lacrosse finalist. Palermo played his freshman season at Quinnipiac University (Div 1) before transfering back to St. Thomas University.
Midfield Specialist
"Geno" played high school lacrosse at Totino-Grace High School and grew up in Shoreview, MN. Nick helped the Eagles earn a trip to the 2010 state finals as a senior. Geno currently plays for St. Thomas University where he earned the Team Spirit Award and "Best Ground Baller" award during his freshman season.
Offensive Specialist
Ryan is the first player from Minnesota to make a name for himself at the NCAA Division 1 level. An Attackman for Cornell University, helping the team reach three Final Four's and the 2009 National Championship. Ryan was a three-time All-American and a two-time All-Ivy selection. Ryan finished his career with 140 career goals, 2nd most in Cornell Lacrosse history. He was recently drafted by the MN Swarm (NLL). Ryan also plays for the Chesapeake Bayhawks (MLL).
Born and raised in Eagan, MN, Ryan grew up in the local lacrosse community and he knows how to succeed within it. He can relate to youth and high school players trying to be successful in the area. Ryan is another offensive talent that has a knack for finding the back of the net. With his background, which includes a MN high school hockey state championship, Ryan can teach local players the proper techniques in becoming a fundamentally strong lacrosse player.
Offensive Specialist, Box Lacrosse Specialist
Aime grew up playing box lacrosse in Windsor, ON. He had an illustrious career as a professional box lacrosse player with various teams. Aime played professionally in Canada for the Newestminster Salmonbellies (WLA), the Brampton Excelsiors (MSL) and the Montreal Express (NLL). He won three Ontario titles and the 2002 Mann Cup. Caines also played professional box lacrosse in the United States for the Columbus Landsharks (NLL) and the Buffalo Bandits (NLL).
Aime currently resides in Woodbury, MN where he is the head coach at Eastridge High School. He is also an Assistant Coach for the Minnesota Swarm (NLL) and the University of Minnesota (MCLA).
Offense Specialist
Todd is originally from Eden Prairie, Minnesota where he set career point records and was named All-American during his high school career. He went on to play his freshman season at Fairfield University (Div 1). Todd tranfered to the University of Denver (Div 1) where he helped the Pioneers reach the 2011 NCAA final four. Baxter was recently drafted by the Minnesota Swarm (NLL). Todd also represented Team England in the 2010 World Games.
Todd currently assists with various lacrosse camps and clinics around the state of Minnesota. He also coaches at Eden Prairie High School.
Media Director, Offense Specialist
Tony played high school lacrosse at Holy Angels where in 2006 he was a captain, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-State, and a US Lacrosse All-American. He was also a captain of the 2005 Minnesota Elite team that went 31-1, winning The War for the South, Notre Dame, and Battle of the Hotbeds recruiting camps. Tony played college lacrosse for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers where he was a 1st Team All-Conference selection for the UMLL and an Academic All-American.
Born and raised in Eagan, MN, Tony grew up in the Minnesota lacrosse community and has over a decade of local coaching experience, having worked within the Dakota Lacrosse system before transitioning to head coach for Minneapolis 7/8 Grade A and high school stints at Holy Angels, Minneapolis, and, most recently, Mounds View as Assistant Varsity Coach and Offensive Coordinator. Tony is also the Offensive Coordinator for the Lakeshore Lakers Gold Developmental Team. With this background, Tony can inform local players about the college recruiting process and can offer lessons pertaining to fundamental lacrosse skills.
